Blessed With Dream Job Despite Odds
More than a year ago, I quit my job to find a more secure position. This was a leap of faith for me. Nevertheless, I trusted that God would be with me and that I didn’t have to be afraid.
Months went by and I was still jobless until a relative recommended me to the biggest mall in my country. However, I left the job after a month, as it wasn’t the kind of work I wanted to do.
So I remained jobless for several months again. I didn’t know what to do, but just continued to trust God to provide me with a good job and kept hearing His Word through podcasts. Later, I received an opportunity to take an examination at a government agency. This was an exam I’d failed a year ago.
I am so glad to say that I passed the exam this time. Working for this agency had always been on my list of dream jobs since it has the most convenient location and I love the kind of work and benefits it offers. But I ended up having to wait for a number of months as my application was profiled in the wrong department.
During this time of waiting, my family and I went for a holiday in Singapore. This was my first time abroad and I even had the chance to watch Pastor Prince preach in person. During the church service, I received a clear revelation of how much I am loved and accepted by God.
I also learned that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Since then, I have been listening to Pastor Prince’s podcasts almost every day to build my faith in Christ. When I returned home to Manila, I had a new take on life, along with a new fire and hope inside me.
Months continued to pass by as I waited for an interview at my dream company. I continued listening to grace messages. I also went for an interview with another company.
Finally, I received an email from my dream company asking me to come for an interview. I went for the interview but was recommended to apply for another position as the original position I’d applied for required technical experience.
Although I was discouraged, I knew my standing with God and realized that His grace is more than enough for me. He has given me unmerited favor and that revelation encouraged me to request for my application to be re-profiled for the original position I’d applied for. Armed with a full confidence in God’s love for me and knowing that He wanted to give me the desires of my heart, I also declined the final interview with the other company—I told them I was already hired by another company.
It seemed as if I was overly confident and boastful but I knew it wasn’t about me but God. I wasn’t the most qualified or experienced candidate for my dream job but I held on to God’s promises of provision and unmerited favor in my life. I also believed and claimed God’s restoration for me.
Soon after that, I was notified that I was hired for my dream job. Today, I am an officer in my dream company—not because of my own might and power, but all because of the favor of the Lord. All glory to God!
