Brother And Family Protected From Typhoon Haiyan
I am a Filipina working in the Middle East. On November 8, 2013, Typhoon Haiyan (also known as Super Typhoon Yolanda) hit the Philippines. Over the next five days, I desperately tried to contact my brother and his family who lived there to no avail.
As I was in the Middle East at that time, I could only watch the news for updates. Then, I remembered Pastor Prince’s sermon titled, Keep Your Eyes On Jesus, which was about seeing Jesus in the midst of the storm.
I prayed and when I opened my Bible for answers, my eyes somehow landed on Psalm 91:7—“a thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.”
I claimed this Scripture promise for my brother and his family in faith. Later, the news reported that about 1,000 people were found dead in the area where my brother’s family lived, and the mortality rate was about 10,000 in the city. I was shocked to hear that because the numbers were exactly the same in Psalm 91:7—the verse that God had pointed me to.
That same day, I received a text message from another sibling who informed me that my brother and his family were safe. They didn’t even have a scratch on them.
I can’t explain how they were completely protected from harm, but I’m so happy the Lord faithfully loved—and is still loving—me. Thank you, Pastor Prince, for preaching the gospel and allowing many to come to know the goodness of God.
