Cancer-Free, Relationship With Mother Restored
I grew up in a Christian family but due to some relationship issues, I was bitter. I could not eat well and would cry myself to sleep.
Early 2015, I began to experience back pain. Doctors could not find what was wrong with me. A few months later, I was rushed to the A & E department with severe back and hip pain. After tests were done with my bone marrow, I was diagnosed with Philadelphia positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Because of that, I could not return to my country in Indonesia and had to undergo chemotherapy and stem cell transplant in Singapore.
My parents and I were devastated. But I remembered God’s promise to me when I attended the Resurrection Sunday service in New Creation Church [in Singapore]—“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” I believed that Jesus had paid the price in full and that He was my healer.
Chemotherapy wasn’t easy but God was with me. I did not experience side effects such as vomiting. I even gained weight and my skin was radiant. Though I lost my hair, I felt pretty. I even did a photo shoot after I finished my chemotherapy.
In August 2015, I completed my stem cell transplant using baby cord blood as there was no suitable donor. I was warded in an isolation room for a month. During this difficult time, I prayed and read the Bible and listened to Pastor Prince’s sermons on YouTube. I also read his book, Healing Promises. I encouraged myself through singing Christian songs as well.
I am now cancer-free. My doctor commented that I was the patient to recover the fastest since 2008 when the first cord blood transplant was conducted. Hallelujah!
God has also restored my relationship with my mother. She has become more patient and learns to listen to me. During this time, God has also led my uncles and aunties to believe in Him.
I just want to encourage anyone out there who is facing a problem that is similar to what I had to face: Do not give up! God has amazing plans for you and me.
