Experiencing God’s Rest In The Midst Of A Fire
On the early morning of January 27 at 4.30am, we were woken by a frantic knocking on our door, alerting us to the fact that our neighbor’s house was on fire. My husband rushed next door to see if the neighbor and his wife were at home, but it seemed that they had left for the airport an hour earlier.
Subsequently, the police came and told us to evacuate and our family was out on the street in the cold with other neighbors. Firefighters fought down the fierce flames but our neighbor’s house was gutted.
My two girls were a little frightened and I assured them that we can have God’s rest even in times of unrest. It so happened that I’d just received this truth after listening to Pastor Joseph Prince’s CD sermon titled, God’s Rest For The Rest Of Your Life, the day before.
Jesus did not let us down. Not only were we completely unharmed, not a leaf in our yard was burnt. We really experienced God’s rest first hand.
Nothing could have been further from restfulness than to be evacuated in the wee hours of a chilly winter morning because of a fire five feet away from our house! Yet, we had God’s rest even at that “unrestful” time. We had peace and no fear—just complete rest knowing that Jesus had His blood over us and our home. Praise God!
