Experiencing Victory over Eating Disorders After Hearing Message of Grace
Pastor Prince, I started watching your TV ministry in 2015 when I was recovering from hip surgery and had to be on a machine 4 times a day. When I began listening, I thought your teachings were blasphemy. But the fact that you were so passionate and your preaching was biblical made me tune in every morning.
Several weeks into my recovery, I found out I needed surgery on my other hip. It was at the same rehab venue, so I continued to watch you for several more weeks. I eventually started getting your books and became a partner. My mornings typically start with reading the email from your ministry and a sermon message or your YouTube message.
My hips have healed well. However, the one thing I have struggled with for over 40 years is eating disorders—anorexia, bulimia, and overeating. I have also battled depression and experienced a past suicide attempt. I have been hospitalized both in-patient and out-patient, and I’ve undergone several years of therapy.
It took years but the message of grace slowly sank in. I have slowly learned about how I am saved by Jesus’ work at the cross and that I am righteous because of Him. I also partake of the Holy Communion almost every day.
Reading your devotionals (The Healing Power of the Holy Communion, Glorious Grace, and 100 Days of Right Believing) brought about huge turning points for me. Romans 5:20 was a transformational scripture for me: “Where sin abounds, grace abounds much more.”
I kept repeating that verse over and over, and over the last couple of months, I have experienced the most freedom I have ever had from food. I can literally talk myself out of overeating or not think about it at all. I still have hard days, but I am trusting and believing that the best is yet to come.
Thank you for your love for Jesus and for spreading the love and grace of Jesus. I keep devotionals in my trunk and have given several away to encourage others and spread the Word. God bless you, your family, and your church.
