Father Protected From Serious Injury After Falling Off Stairs

Two months ago in September, my father had a bad fall down the outdoor stairs of our house. He lost his footing midway and fell off the path of the stairs (which had no side-rails), straight into the basement below. He is a man who is almost 60 years old with a good-sized body, so you can imagine how bad the impact of the fall was—he was in pain when we found him.

My dad was sent to the National University Hospital and he was diagnosed as having a small crack in his spine. When we saw him for the next two days in the hospital, he could not even use a pillow to rest his head while lying down, not to mention sit up on his bed to drink water.

While this was extremely saddening, I thank my Daddy God for protecting my father from much worse. He could have lost his footing right from the top of the stairs instead of midway, and the result could have been worse. Praise the Lord for His protection even though my dad is not a believer.

The weekend came and I went for two church services. During the youth church service on Saturday, I prayed for divine healing for my dad. After that, I reminded myself that when we let go, God works on our behalf. So I accompanied my mother to attend her friend’s concert before visiting my dad at the hospital again. While he seemed more cheerful, his condition did not improve.

On Sunday, after the church service, I went to the prayer room and a leader prayed for my dad and pronounced his spine to be fully healed and restored stronger than before.

The next day, which was the fourth day after my dad’s fall, he started to show significant signs of improvements when my mother and I visited him at the hospital. Wearing a brace around his waist, he could sit and walk. In fact, he recovered well and returned to work two weeks later!

The only thing that he still can’t do is swim, something he used to do every single day, rain or shine. However, Daddy God has turned this negative situation around for our good because we get to see him much more often now. It has also strengthened our family relationships and increased our faith in God.

Our Daddy God is indeed so loving and merciful. I rejoice in His unfailing love. Praise the Lord and all glory to Jesus!
