Freed By God’s Grace From Fear Of Public Speaking
I used be afraid to speak in front of groups from an early age. Even though I always raised my hand to participate, I was always crippled with fear when it was my turn to speak. Either I couldn’t speak or my voice would become choppy. Worst still, my face would turn red each time!
As I listened to Joseph Prince over the past three years, I became bold and confident effortlessly. I remember Pastor Prince saying, “Why care what people are thinking? Did anyone in that room hang on a cross for you?” That gave me strength.
I practiced being conscious of the Lord’s presence. Whenever I walked into a room, I would imagine a host of angels surrounding the room. And when I sat down, I would imagine Jesus sitting in an empty chair next to me. When my heart began to race, I would say, “Grace is superabounding right now in my area of weakness,” and when I became really nervous, I would just keep calling upon Jesus under my breath.
Now, I am totally free. When I speak, people would praise and congratulate me later and they cannot believe me when I tell them how nervous I used to get. They even suggested that I teach public speaking!
This is all possible because of listening more and more to the Word of God and knowing God’s promises for us that have been secured through Jesus’ sacrifice. Right believing produces right living. There are no impossible situations with Daddy God as we are all called to reign in life! I’m a living proof that the Word works!
