Healed of Eye Allergy after Believing Right about God’s love
I suffered from allergic conjunctivitis for 8 years. I visited 3 specialists, who all said there was no cure. I had to use eye-drop medication that was very expensive. They were effective only for the first 5 minutes and then the burning sensation in both eyes would return.
As a result of the symptoms, I would look like I was crying. I would also be squinting the whole time, and end up having massive headaches and severe back pain. This continued daily for 8 years. I felt so crippled and trapped. I could not fully enjoy any family outings. I had to miss work a lot. And even if I just stayed at home, I would still require protective eyewear the whole time I was up and about. The only thing that could help me survive the day was sleep, and I would feel better for a few hours before the whole cycle repeated itself.
Finally, I came across Pastor Joseph Prince’s teaching on these Bible verses: “This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgement: In this world we are like Jesus” (1 John 4:17 NIV), and, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
I came to realize that by the stripes Jesus had borne for me, I am healed. It has been 4 years now since I’ve had these symptoms. I cannot pinpoint the exact day it happened, but I know I was set free of this debilitating illness the moment my thoughts toward God changed from believing that He is an angry fault-finder to believing the truth that He is a loving God. I was also set free from seeking security in relationships, material things, and physical appearances. By His grace, I now awake to the reality of God’s love over me and my security is in Him.
God has blessed me so abundantly. I have ceased striving for God’s affirmation. Instead, I now focus on the love that He demonstrated at the cross. There are no words to describe how thankful I am for God’s grace. I praise Him for what He has done. Hallelujah!
