Home Untouched by Hurricane Harvey
I praise God and my Lord Jesus for saving our home from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.
For about a week before I knew there would be a storm, I felt uneasy and decided to meditate on Psalm 91. I also decided to reread Pastor Prince’s book on Psalm 91, The Prayer of Protection—Living Fearlessly in Dangerous Times. I even took the book with me as I traveled to New York with my kids on vacation.
While in New York, my husband informed me of a hurricane in the gulf. We were able to make it back to Beaumont, Texas, just before they closed all the airports.
I began to pray Psalm 91 as Hurricane Harvey hit. We received over fifty inches of rain in a few days, causing a nearby bayou (Pine Island Bayou) to overflow. The floodwater came all the way in to my neighborhood, affecting homes halfway up their garages.
When it began to reach my street, my neighbor and I went out to the rising water and spoke to it. We declared that it had to drain and could not come up anymore. The water stopped rising and did not move for about one day!
The next day, we noticed it going down and it continued to retreat. God stopped it three houses down from us, just like how it is promised in Psalm 91 that “no plague will come near your tent” (see Psalm 91:10 CSB).
Thank you, Pastor Prince, for your teaching. Most of all, thank You, God, for Your protection!
