Husband Experienced Restful Acceleration in Job Search
I moved to New Zealand 7 years ago hoping to bring my family here to live. I became a student at 42 to gain the qualifications to work here. After studying for a year, I was able to graduate and find a job to finally bring my husband and children here in 2017.
My husband used to be employed in the IT field but struggled in interviews and could not get a job in that field here. So he worked various other jobs, from bus driver to merchandiser to cleaner. At this point, he was losing hope and falling into depression.
During the 2020 pandemic, I hoped to find an online church that preached grace-filled messages to tune into, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that New Creation Church in Singapore started going online. This prompted me to gather my family members every Sunday to listen to the Lord’s gospel.
In August 2021, I asked my manager if my husband could apply for an opening in my company, but his interview did not end well as someone else got hired. At this point, there was just so much frustration as we’d done everything in our capacity, and a sense of defeat hung over us.
When the theme of the year Rest and Acceleration was introduced in 2022, we realized that we needed to rest in God’s promises where we wanted to see acceleration, and so we learned to rest. In late January, my manager suddenly reached out to my husband and offered him a job without another interview. My husband secured the job at the age of 50.
Truly, by resting and trusting in God’s promise, we were able to accelerate into the next chapter of our lives. At the end of the year, we also secured a deal for a house and have since moved in. The Lord is indeed amazing. Thank You, Jesus!
