Marriage Restored, Blessed with Answered Prayers in Job and Home
The year 2019 was a low point in my life. I was busy with my PhD, and both my husband and I had temporary employment contracts that were ending. We were living in a milking stall that had been converted into a small flat. It was all we could afford.
We started looking for jobs, but there seemed to be very few opportunities in a highly competitive market. We received rejection after rejection. The high stress levels and uncertainty created friction in our marriage. We both resorted to alcohol to escape our circumstances. Even though we had been married for less than a year, it seemed like divorce was inevitable.
At the end of 2019, I listened to a sermon by Joseph Prince in which he prayed a prayer asking everyone to make 3 requests for 2020. That day, I made my 3 requests: to finish my PhD, to get a job, and to find a home.
During the lockdown in 2020, I focused on listening to grace-based gospel messages. Whenever I felt anxiety, fear, or uncertainty, I prayed, “Lord, Your Word does not return to You empty. I’m holding You to that promise, not because I’m good, but because Your love for me is greater than whatever is happening in the world, and Your expectations for my life are greater than my own.”
In 2021, I was awarded my PhD. I also started a new job, and at the end of the year, I moved into my new home—a double-story, 3-bedroom house that I now own. But God did not stop there!
During the lockdown, my husband and I were stuck together in our small flat, and our country implemented an alcohol ban. My husband and I found each other again, and we’ve been married for more than six years now.
God not only fulfilled His promises to me, but He also saved us from a horrible addiction and rescued our marriage that year. Whenever I’m in doubt, I remember what God did for me that year and remind myself that He was only getting started. He has much bigger and better plans for my life. I hope my message encourages someone who is in a dark place to fully trust God because He will not disappoint.
Thank you, Pastor Prince, for spreading the gospel. It has changed my life.
