No More Drinking And Philandering, Now Pastoring Church
When I was young, I hated going to church because I saw God as an angry God. I believed He was always waiting for me to mess up so He could throw me into hellfire. For three years, I avoided stepping into church.
In university, I joined a music group that made me very popular among my peers. Because of my fame, I had girlfriends in almost every faculty on campus. Drinking alcohol also became my lifestyle.
After graduation, I got a job and moved to the federal capital of my country. One evening in 2011, I watched Pastor Joseph Prince preach for the first time on my neighbor’s television. His message was about the Benjamin generation and I was amazed by it. Something within me accepted his message about the grace of God.
Later, I read his books, Destined To Reign and Unmerited Favor. My life has changed since then, and I lost all desire for alcohol. I was also blessed to find a good church that preaches grace and justification by faith. Soon, I started serving in church and joined an evangelistic ministry—I would share with people about the grace of God and they would turn their lives to Christ.
Because of God’s grace and intervention in my life, I continued experiencing an ever-increasing love and passion for Jesus. I was asked to head a care group, and by March 2016, I became a pastor of one of our church’s branches. Today, the message that I share with my congregation is not one of condemnation, but Christ and the grace of God.
Another change that happened to me was that I was able to remain faithful to my fiancé during our three-year courtship—this was unlike my past where I had several partners at the same time. We are now married and welcomed our first baby in May 2016. We have named him “Hesed,” which means grace and mercy in Hebrew.
Thank you, Pastor Prince, for your grace messages that have transformed my life. May God bless you.
