Offered Job With Seventy-Five Percent Increment In Salary
In December 31, 2013, I became unemployed after quitting my job. I had felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to quit and I believed that God would lead me to a new job that was right for me.
So in January this year, I began to wait on the Lord for a new job. Days passed by without a single interview being offered, despite having sent hundreds of job applications to various recruiters. I started to be tormented by thoughts of how I was going to remain jobless while my personal expenses accumulated. I was also troubled about how I was going to service my home mortgage without an income.
During this time of waiting, I continued to meditate on God’s goodness and His promises for me. I knew God wanted me to rest and wait patiently for Him to bless me with a great job. Sometimes, it was hard and I wondered many times if He was ever going to answer my prayer.
In early February, I chanced upon a job posting in one of the recruiters’ websites. I sent in my résumé but was informed later by the agent that I did not have the required experience that the client was looking for. The same job was posted again in early March and I did not give much thought about it but continued to apply for other jobs.
To my surprise, the same job was posted again on March 27 and the agent contacted me on March 28. I could not believe what he told me! He said that he spoke to the hiring manager and I was the person the hiring manager was looking for in terms of relevant experience. The agent said he had some “miscommunication” with the hiring manager, but that my earlier application had not been rejected.
After a discussion with the hiring manager, my agent arranged for an interview for me on March 31. At the end of the interview, I was verbally offered the job, based on a six-month contract. However, I had my doubts as I thought that the hiring manger could change her mind at any time, especially before I signed all the documents.
To my surprise, my agent contacted me by 5pm the very same day, saying that I had been given the job. When he told me the salary they were offering me, I could not believe what I heard. I was given a seventy-five percent increment in my salary over that of my last paying job. Not only this, but the position they were offering me was changed from a contract position to a permanent one! The company also has excellent welfare schemes and benefits for its employees!
I have truly experienced God’s favor and goodness in my three-month journey when I finally understood God’s greater glory for my career in 2014. As Pastor Prince has continually reminded us, God will place us at the right place at the right time.
I thank God for His unmerited favor, and I know that He will never fail me even when I have failed Him many times.
Thank you, Pastor Prince, for preaching the gospel of grace. I give all glory to God!
