Overcoming Breast Screening Scare Through Prayer and Meditation
Some time ago, I went for a free breast screening. A few days later, I received a call from New South Wales Health. I was told there were some differences between this screening result and the one I had 2 years ago. I was required to go to a hospital for a mammogram and ultrasound, and I received no more information other than that.
Naturally, I was worried. For a few hours, bad thoughts came to my mind. Nineteen years ago, I had a lump in my left breast, and the biopsy showed that it was benign. Could that have come back? I didn’t want to die yet.
I’ve read on Joseph Prince Ministries’ website testimonies about ladies who proclaimed that “as Jesus is, so am I in this world” from 1 John 4:17 when they had breast cancer. I proclaimed the verse. In addition, I requested a prayer on the website and was directed to a recorded healing prayer. By that evening, the worry left me.
Pastor Prince always preaches on the Holy Communion, so I bought a bag of the elements and partook of them at home over the next few days. I also continued listening to Pastor Prince’s sermons as I always do daily.
In a sermon I had listened to, Pastor Prince mentioned that we should tell God how long we want to live, and He will satisfy us. I started meditating on the verse from Psalm 91:16: “With long life will I satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”
I also held on to Isaiah 41:10 NIV, a verse I had received from a prayer warrior: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
I felt peace during my appointment, and when the mammogram and ultrasound results came out, I was informed that there was a cyst in the breast, which is common. It comes and goes, and it is harmless. Praise the Lord!
