In January 2014, I was experiencing a challenging time at work. There was a re-organization in my department and the situation was unsettling. I had wanted to move to another department but the door was closed. It was a frustrating situation for me that also affected my family. However, I heard the Lord telling me that He was taking care of my career.

I didn’t understand what it meant then but I was hopeful, knowing that He cared about my situation. A few weeks later, I stumbled upon Pastor Prince’s video on YouTube. It was his sermon excerpt on The Key Of David—God Opens Doors Where No One Can Shut. I showed it to my husband and we watched it together.

My heart was warmed as I listened to that message. That’s when I told my husband that we should pray about moving from our current church to New Creation Church [Singapore]. We visited the church in February 2014. Since then, we have been attending its services every Sunday, allowing the gospel of grace to heal us.

Meanwhile, my problems at work continued. My company embarked on a major layoff exercise and my manager was asked to leave. I was saved from the layoff by the grace of God. However, life under the new manager was miserable because of her bad temper and inconsistent instructions. On top of that, this manager changed my job focus four times in just two months.

Yet, I felt that God was not done with having me in that company and resigning was not a solution. I was still hopeful for the role in the other department although the department’s headcount was on hold for months. I chose to stay on even though coming to work was getting harder each day.

The weeks were the hardest in my career. I was depressed but I was comforted knowing that God was with me. I continued to confess that I am the righteousness of God in Christ and it’s not because of anything that I have done but it’s because of the finished work of Christ.

I had more trouble with my manager but by March 2015, things began to turn around for me. I obtained a successful performance rating and received all one hundred percent of my bonus plus a new role in a global team. A new headcount was created despite another layoff exercise that was happening at that time. With this new role, I came under a nice manager, worked in a great team, and received a promotion as well as a significant pay increase. It is truly a year of His restoration!

I know this is possible only by the grace of God. His favor and mercy endure forever! Not only has He sustained me in the valley, but He has also been growing me spiritually, restoring our family, and leading us into a land flowing with milk and honey.
