Protection for Husband and Son After Praying in Tongues
Pastor Prince, my husband woke me one Sunday a year ago and said something was wrong with him and that he needed help. My farmer husband never complains, so I knew this was something serious. I began to pray in tongues throughout the time I helped him get ready, travelled to the hospital, and sat in the emergency room for many hours waiting to find out what was wrong.
I cried out Psalm 91 and said to the Lord, “Your Word says a thousand may fall at my side and 10 thousand at my right hand, but it shall not come near me.” In my spirit, I heard Isaiah 45:2—“I will go before you and make the crooked places straight.”
After the doctors had done their investigations and scans, they determined it was his gallbladder, and that surgery was needed. At first, we were told any surgery would not happen until Tuesday as it was the Memorial Day holiday weekend. But within moments, a surgeon stepped in and announced he was performing surgery on my husband.
Later, my husband’s general physician told him there was no way she could have scheduled and lined up the surgery he needed and gotten it all accomplished within 12 hours, returning him home the same day after surgery to rest and sleep in his bed. Praise the Lord, he has completely recovered.
But that’s not all. During those hours I was praying in tongues, our son, a 14-year homicide detective, and his partner were under heavy gunfire while trying to arrest a murderer. Our son said he could hear the sound of the bullets flying over their heads as they lay on the floor, but not one bullet hit them.
He later received the Medal of Merit for exceptional performance above and beyond the call of duty for his actions that day. He told his captain what the devil meant for evil, God meant for good: “The devil came to take out two in our family that day, but the weapon my mama was using was and is more powerful—she was praying in the Spirit.”
All the while, I knew I was praying for my husband, but I had no idea God was working for our good (Rom. 8:28) by protecting our son too. It’s all because of Pastor Prince’s continued reminders that point us clearly to Jesus, His finished work, and His gifts we’re given. We give God all the praise and glory and thank Him for the teachings He has provided through Pastor Prince. It’s truly amazing what He has done and continues to do!
