Receiving Exceeding Restoration In Career
Over a year ago, I relocated from Australia to Singapore on an internal company transfer to pursue better career opportunities. When I first signed up for the new role, it was agreed that it would come with great autonomy to establish and lead a team in the Asian division.
However, as time passed, it turned out to be entirely different. Instead of a gradual stewardship transition from the Australian division to Asia, I felt the management’s increasing control over my responsibilities. It was later formally communicated to me that there was a change in plan. I no longer had any autonomy as originally agreed, but had to be fully accountable to the Australian division.
My hopes were completely dashed. In addition, I was drained under a very demanding and unsympathetic manager. The team morale was low and everyone left. As a result, I inherited more work. I was blamed and criticized on many occasions. I felt it was all unjustified, especially when I was overwhelmed with work that was not within my scope.
However, I want to thank Pastor Prince for his message of the year in 2015 titled, The Year Of His Restoration. Although I was emotionally down and discouraged, I held on to this promise dearly, believing that restoration would come my way. I rested on His promise and was able to continue working diligently with full integrity despite the circumstances. I praise God for the peace of mind as well as His presence and favor in the difficult situation I was in.
Finally, there was a breakthrough. Through God’s grace, the higher management recognized my efforts and allowed me to hire a new headcount in Singapore. More goods news came along a few months later when the higher management gave me full autonomy to manage the team in Singapore, reporting to a different manager. On top of that, they also promoted me to manage another team that was not within my area of expertise. The management had full confidence that I would be able to manage the two teams well.
God has not only restored what was originally agreed, He has also restored exceedingly above what I had originally lost! Looking back, it is amazing to see how God has been truly faithful to His promise.
Thank you so much, Pastor Prince, for the message of restoration. With my new responsibilities, I shall continue to rely on God even more to guide me through the new challenges.
