Restored With New Position, 20 Percent More Pay
In August 2011, I was headhunted to join a local organization. Within a few short months into the new job, I regretted my decision. The job was a nightmare for me because of the complex internal political settings and unpleasant management style by the leaders of the company. I often had this uneasy feeling that I was being “roared” at whenever I talked to my bosses. Despite this, I still respected their leadership and submitted to them.
On the first Sunday of 2012, Pastor Prince preached the message for the year and he declared that 2012 would be a year of “unceasing fruitfulness” for the church. During the service, he mentioned that if God cannot channel His blessings to you through your boss, He can replace your boss, or have you placed under a better boss through whom His blessings can flow. Then, toward the end of the service, he led the congregation in a prayer and we were asked to present to God three wishes for the year.
In one of my wishes, I prayed to God to deliver me from my workplace. The very next day, I was asked to resign from my position! No valid reasons were given and the news came as a shock. But I did not retaliate as something inside me told me that the battle belonged to the Lord.
However, after I resigned from my job, I began to feel devastated as bad thoughts and worries started to fill my mind. I felt so helpless. Moreover, my mother-in-law was bedridden and had to stay in a nursing home. The nursing fees alone set us back by more than S$2,500 a month.
I immediately began sending out as many as 50 job applications within the first two weeks after my resignation. I was even prepared to take a big pay cut just to have a job. I waited patiently for a miracle to happen, but nothing seemed to happen. The hope of getting a job seemed bleaker and bleaker with each passing day.
While waiting to get a job, I listened to Pastor Prince’s sermons and took the Lord’s Supper daily, declaring the Lord’s death and the victory that He had won for us. I anointed myself with the anointing oil every day, declaring God’s blessings and favor upon me. I would also meditate on Psalm 23 and pray the Jabez prayer.
Then, on the third week, something happened. An ex-colleague offered me a chance to have an interview with his new boss. Much to my surprise, the interview went very well and within a relatively short time, I was offered the job!
Although I did not expect much, the Lord was exceedingly good! I was not only given a job that I liked, but I was also given a salary that was 20 percent above my last compensation! I was even given a chance to work in California for a period of six months as part of the pioneer team! All glory to Jesus!
Thank you, Pastor Prince, for your awesome grace-centered messages that reveal the person of Jesus and the heart of our heavenly Abba! Having invited Jesus into my life was the best thing that I have done for myself. I thank the Lord for His amazing grace and love for me and my family.
