I used to be addicted to alcohol and smoking. I struggled to quit these habits until a friend, who was not even aware of my condition, bought me Pastor Joseph Prince’s book, Destined To Reign. I took it with me to Switzerland during the winter months of November and December 2011, thinking it would keep me occupied while I stayed indoors.

Looking back, I’m sure this was God’s plan to set me free. I read the book during the two months and learned that I cannot do anything without God (see John 15:5).

In January 2012, God helped me to quit my addictions. I have stopped drinking and smoking since then, and it’s been four years! I believe I will never fall into these addictions again, because it was not based on my own efforts to change, but God who lives in me.
