Smooth Delivery Despite Complications During Pregnancy
I would like to share my testimony on the smooth delivery of our daughter, Alexis, born last year.
Alexis is our first child and when I was eighteen weeks pregnant with her, the nuchal translucency scan (a sonographic scan to help identify possible medical conditions in the foetus) detected that I had complete placenta previa (the placenta completely covered my cervix). I was advised to be extremely careful, as any major movements might result in hemorrhaging that could be fatal. I was very worried at that time as I was working in Chicago then and had to travel back home to Australia on my own with all my luggage and carry-ons.
Praise God, my pregnancy was very smooth, despite the traveling and there were no signs of hemorrhaging at all. My husband and I prayed and trusted in the Lord to constantly provide for us and thanked Him that that our baby was fearfully and wonderfully made by Him!
Upon the request of our obstetrician, we went for another ultrasound scan when I was thirty-three weeks pregnant to check the position of the placenta. This would also help to determine if I need a caesarean section (C-section). My husband and I wanted natural birth but given my condition, we had accepted the fact that I would likely have a C-section.
However, the scan revealed that my placenta had actually moved away from the cervix and there was no blockage at all. Our baby was also growing healthily, with a full head of hair, thick lips, and she had even positioned herself for her arrival! When we heard this, we knew immediately that this was all God’s grace and He was answering our prayers to have a smooth pregnancy and birth.
I was induced when Alexis was thirty-eight weeks and two days old in my womb. However, after almost twenty-four hours in labor, my daughter was not ready to meet the world. As a result, my obstetrician advised that I would most probably need a C-section. Once again, I prayed to Daddy God that He would see us through the delivery. Shortly after my obstetrician left, my contractions increased and I was ready to push! Within thirty minutes, Alexis was born! Daddy God heard our prayers and laid His hands upon us to help me deliver my daughter naturally!
My little one, Alexis Wee, is now a healthy four-month-old baby and she constantly amazes us with her little antics. It is such a delight to watch her grow in the glory of Jesus.
Praise the Lord and thank you, Pastor Prince, and the church for all your sermons and encouragement!
