Understanding Righteousness Through Right Believing
For 20 years after being saved, I struggled with trying to be a good Christian. I was always beating myself up, especially because of the teachings I’d received from various books, broadcasts and speakers at our local church that taught a mixture of law and grace.
I was discouraged and was at the point of giving up being a Christian. Some Sundays at church, I thought that I did not deserve to sit with the other saints as I was not holy enough. So I would sit at the back. I was so close to not going back to church anymore!
I grew to dislike myself and thought that Jesus did not love me because I was not living up to His expectations. Finally, I told Jesus one day, “I cannot do this! I need You to help me! Why waste Your time with me?”
In the midst of all my challenges, my wife has been watching Joseph Prince Ministries’ Destined To Reign broadcast program. Even though I was always in the room when the program was on, I barely paid attention to what was preached.
One day, during Pastor Prince’s broadcast, I saw his book, Unmerited Favor, being highlighted. To this day, I believe that the Holy Spirit did not let me go but encouraged me to get that book. I felt like I had to hunt the book down and read it. And after reading the book in 2012, I felt like an 800-pound gorilla was taken off my shoulders!
I have learned so much in a short time and I am free from wrong beliefs. These days, I walk in church with my head held high and with a freedom to worship knowing that I am the righteousness of God through Christ. Now, I cannot get enough of Pastor Prince’s teaching. I already have several of his CDs and just ordered four more of his sermons.
I am still learning more and more about Jesus’ love for me. Grace is not a subset of other Christian topics. It is throughout the Word of God! It’s so simple, and the good news is Jesus Christ!
Thank You, Jesus! Thank you, Pastor Prince!
