Wallet Found Against Impossible Odds
I was inspired by Pastor Joseph’s testimony about the recovery of his daughter Jessica’s lost retainer in his sermon, How To Pray Powerful Prayers. As such, I would like to write about a similar incident that happened to me.
I was getting out of my car after parking at a mall when I noticed that my wallet was missing. There was no cash in my wallet, but it did have my bank card, credit card, and driver’s license. The wallet itself was a Father’s Day gift and had John 3:16 engraved on it. It had great sentimental value for me.
Before that, my wife, my son, and I were at a workout center that was two miles down from the mall. So we jumped back into the car and headed back to the center, hoping that I had left my wallet there or that someone had found it and turned it in. Unfortunately, no one had seen it.
Then, it dawned on me that as we were leaving the center earlier, I had been talking to a friend and had placed my wallet on top of my car as I opened the car door. So we searched the parking lot but to no avail. My wife and son started checking the shops around the parking lot, again hoping that someone had found it and turned it in. Still, no one had seen it.
Then, I told my wife I was going to check the “enter” section of the highway. I ran there and looked all around, and even walked one block up to the next red light, but found nothing. I remember feeling like it was an impossible situation and that my wallet was surely gone.
I prayed to the Lord, telling Him how much the wallet meant to me, and what a blessing it would be to have it back so that I did not have to cancel my cards and get new IDs. After praying, I started walking back down the highway.
While walking back, I noticed a business card and picked it up—it was mine! I started looking around and saw my bank card. As I looked out onto the highway, I realized all the contents of my wallet were scattered down the lane. I found my credit cards, driver’s license, and more, but not the wallet itself.
I thanked Jesus for this blessing He had given me, and was so grateful to have found all my things. Yet, I still missed my wallet. I told the Lord that He knew how much the wallet meant to me and that I sure would like to have it back.
After rejoicing and sharing my answered prayer of finding the lost items with my family and friends, I got out my old wallet and decided to use it for the time being. As I was putting my things into it, I noticed that my work ID was not there. However, it was not a big deal and was the easiest thing to replace.
A few days later, I got a call from a friend at Fire Department Station 5. He said that someone had dropped off a wallet they found in the middle of Highway 5. The only thing that was in it was my fire department ID, so the person had brought it to the nearest fire station.
Immediately, I went to get my wallet. What a wonderful ride it was as I was overwhelmed by God’s presence and LOVE for me! I retrieved my wallet and headed home to share this wonderful answered prayer with my family.
God’s love for me was so amazing that it left me speechless. I was grateful to get my stuff back and was overwhelmed to have my wallet again. While on the way home, I was searching for the words to express how I was feeling when I pulled up behind a van. The auto tag on the van said “GOD IS GOOD.” That tag said it all for me. GOD IS GOOD! Amen!
